Wellness Coaching & CBT

Obviously, I don’t run my retreats alone and it requires a strong partnership with a shared vision to bring ‘Glow’ to life.

My Retreat Partner is Sarah Oliver - who many of you have been on retreat with me over the years will remember from Ibiza Retreats.

Together, we have run probably in excess of a hundred retreats together, both for Ibiza Retreats and for private and corporate clients from all over the world. Sarah and I hit it off from the moment we met six years ago, and we bonded over a shared love of Yoga (obviously) but also the desire to make retreats accessible, fun and most of all, not restrictive or limiting.

TOGETHER, WE WANT TO GUIDE, RATHER THAN LEAD. WE WANT TO INSPIRE RATHER THAN PREACH. WE HAVE BUILT THE GLOW ETHOS BASED ON THE SHARED BELIEF THAT EVERYONE WHO COMES ON OUR RETREATS ARE BEAUTIFUL SOULS WHO JUST NEED A REST, A LIFT AND SOME SUPPORTIVE DIRECTION IN FINDING THEIR WAY TO A HAPPIER, MORE FULFILLING LIFE

In addition to being my Retreat Partner, Yoga Teacher and breathwork / mindfulness meditation coach, Sarah is an advanced Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) Practitioner and we are now, together, incorporating these elements of her offerings into our Glow retreats.

YOU MAY HAVE ALREADY HEARD OF CBT, WHICH IS A RESULTS-ORIENTED PRACTICE WHICH IDENTIFIES PROBLEMATIC BEHAVIOURS OR EMOTIONAL RESPONSES IN A PERSON AND ‘RETRACES’ THE STEPS THAT HAVE LED TO A PARTICULAR BEHAVIOUR AND THEN INTERCEPTS THE THOUGHT PROCESS THAT IS RESULTING IN THE NEGATIVE OR DESTRUCTIVE BEHAVIOUR OR EMOTIONAL RESPONSE.

CBT is widely recognised as an effective practice that can help alleviate stress, anxiety, depression or compulsive & addictive behaviour patterns. Sarah’s speciality lies in using CBT to relieve general anxiety, stress, overwhelm and burnout, in both personal and workplace environments.

I'LL LET SARAH TELL YOU MORE ABOUT THE POWER OF CBT...

“I came across CBT while undertaking a qualification in Modern Applied Psychology. To me, it felt like the ‘Magic Key.’

We are all - to some degree - a slave to our thoughts, to our inner dialogue. Our autonomic nervous system is driven by our emotional responses, our cognitive biases and beliefs and - primarily - our thoughts!

When we learn to recognise our negative behaviours and reactions, we can learn how to un-learn the patterns we hold in our neural pathways and drive them towards a more mindful path where we are kinder to ourselves, where we identify that our behaviours haven’t come from nowhere - they have been imprinted from experience - and we can re-learn how to address these negative, limiting or destructive thoughts and manage them, control them and re-route them to a thought process that makes us kinder to ourselves, teaches us to naturally think before we respond in a ‘knee-jerk’ kind of way and simply makes us more conscious of the connection between our inner dialogue and the results we get from out inner and outer communications. Honestly, as the mother of two teenagers and living in a modern, blended family with kids, elderly parents, career pressures and everything that goes with that, CBT has been my lifesaver - in fact it has been the lifesaver of my entire family. This stuff is not ‘hocus-pucus.’ It is real, it is practical and it WORKS!”

“CBT dovetails perfectly with Yoga and Mindfulness as it sits seamlessly & comfortably alongside the ancient philosophies of Yoga. What I love to think of as the ‘Wisdom of the Sages’ is alive and kicking within CBT and this practice is super-effective, offering real solutions, here and now, to the elevated levels of stress and anxiety that so many of us are experiencing in the modern world.”
